2022 Team: Buffalo Bills

Now, some might be a little hesitant about the Vikings going after a player like Jordan Poyer in free agency since he is currently 31-years-old. But the dude is still playing at a very high level.

Poyer has been one of the top safeties in the NFL for the last few seasons and that has remained the case for this year as well. He’s only appeared in three games, but he’s done enough to rank as the 13th-best safety in the league by PFF after the first five weeks of the season.

Harrison Smith likely doesn’t have many years left of good football left in him, but a pairing with someone like Poyer could help extend the career of the veteran Minnesota safety.

Smith is currently working with Camryn Bynum in the back of the Vikings’ secondary and the young defensive back has been, unsurprisingly, struggling in his first season as a starter.

If Minnesota believes Bynum would be better off as a reserve, then adding Poyer would be a smart way for them to use some of their spending money in 2023.
