What were some major observations from the performance of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins at the Miami Dolphins?

Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings had a great opportunity to extend their outstanding start to the 2022 season in Week 6. Much has been made about the Miami Dolphins’ situation at quarterback, leaving the AFC playoff hopefuls forced to start rookie Skylar Thompson with Teddy Bridgewater and Tua Tagovailoa on the sidelines.

Cousins was coming off an impressive performance in Week 5 and is playing some tremendous football under new head coach Kevin O’Connell. These games are potential banana skins despite Miami being under strength, so it was interesting to witness how the Vikings and their in-form signal-caller approached their latest contest on the road.

As it turned out, Bridgewater came into the fold early in the first quarter. But the Vikings held firm to come away with another morale-boosting victory on their travels.

With this in mind, here are four major observations from the performance of Cousins in Week 6.

Kirk Cousins struggled early

Credit to the Dolphins, they implemented their game plan superbly early on. They churned the clock through running plays and kept Kirk Cousins off the field, which is something that brought plenty of frustrations throughout the first half.

It wasn’t until midway through the second quarter when Cousins finally got time to find any sort of rhythm. A far cry from the historic start the former Michigan State standout enjoyed in Week 5.
