More 3rd quarter woes for Kirk Cousins
Just what adjustments the Minnesota Vikings are making at halftime from week to week is unclear. But they aren’t having the desired effect on the offensive side of things.
This was once again evident at the Miami Dolphins in Week 6. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings found life extremely difficult despite getting numerous opportunities to put points on the board, something that left the game with a nervous feeling heading into the final quarter of action.
Minnesota has now scored just six points in the third quarter over their opening six games. Yet somehow, they find themselves atop the NFC North with a 5-1 record heading into their bye week.
In all honesty, the bye is coming at a good time for the Vikings. This is the time when Kevin O’Connell can figure out what’s going wrong and react accordingly to avoid further complications as they look to finally wrestle the divisional crown from an inconsistent Green Bay Packers.
There might not be a magic formula to these woes immediately following the break. And credit to the defense for ensuring this hasn’t become a glaring flaw in the team’s overall performance.
These problems are fixable for Cousins and the offense collectively. And at the end of the day, winning is all that counts when it’s all said and done.
