Ed Ingram – RG

Ed Ingram is a rookie who earned the starting right guard job pretty early in camp. That is extremely impressive for a young player to do, but with a rookie, there will be ups and downs. Ingram’s game against the Dolphins was definitely one of the lows.

Kirk Cousins faced a lot of pressure just about every time he dropped back to pass against the Dolphins. Most of that pressure came through the interior, and much of it was over Ingram.

At times, the Minnesota rookie was simply outmatched. He was dominated by Miami defensive lineman Raekwon Davis, whose speed and power made Ingram look lost and downright silly. He gave little resistance and Cousins didn’t have a chance.

Ingram wasn’t much better in the rushing game as the Vikings struggled to move the ball on the ground for most of the day. He did have a key block that helped spring Dalvin Cook’s long touchdown run, so at least he had that going for him.

Maybe it was the heat, or maybe he was just off, but Ingram’s performance against the Dolphins was a sore spot on what has been a very stellar start to his NFL career.
