Current Status: Member of the Denver Broncos practice squad

Just as it seemed like he was going to get some opportunities on defense, Vikings rookie safety Lewis Cine went down with a season-ending injury during the team’s win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 4.

The injury not only knocked out Minnesota’s most recent first-round draft pick out for the rest of the 2022 campaign, but it also impacted the team’s depth at the safety position.

Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum, and Josh Metellus are the clear-cut top-three safeties on the Vikings’ current depth chart. But the fourth safety spot for Minnesota still remains a question mark.

Most assumed Myles Dorn would step in as Cine’s replacement, but the Vikings recently moved Dorn back to their practice squad, so it doesn’t seem like they’re too convinced that he can be their No. 4 safety.

If Minnesota is interested in adding a safety with a significant amount of starting experience who can provide better depth than Dorn, then Anthony Harris could be their guy.

The former Vikings starter is currently sitting on the Broncos’ practice squad and Minnesota could easily sign him to their active roster. Harris has appeared in two games for Denver this year, but he’s only had snaps on special teams.

He would likely have a similar role with the Vikings, but his old team would likely feel better with him as their No. 4 safety than Dorn or someone else off the street.
