According to a recent report, the Minnesota Vikings have heard from multiple teams that are interested in trading for running back Alexander Mattison.
This season’s trade deadline in the NFL is quickly approaching and Alexander Mattison is reportedly at least one Minnesota Vikings player that multiple teams have inquired about making a deal for recently.
According to Heavy.com’s Matt Lombardo on Thursday, several teams from around the league have contacted the Vikings about a possible trade for Mattison. However, Lombardo added that “a trade may prove unlikely” due to the fact that Minnesota “prioritizes” their current No. 2 running back.
This year’s trade deadline is next Tuesday, November 1st. So we’ll know by then if Mattison will remain with the Vikings for the rest of the season or not.
Which NFL teams might be interested in making a trade for Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison?
When it comes to figuring out who some of the teams are that have contacted Minnesota about making a deal for Mattison, there are a few that come to mind.
Following the season-ending injury to running back Javonte Williams in Week 4, the Denver Broncos seem like an obvious choice, especially given the connections that Broncos general manager George Paton still has to the Vikings, who were his previous employer.
The New York Jets are another team that recently saw their top running back, Breece Hall, go down with a season-ending injury, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they are one of the teams that have contacted Minnesota about Mattison.
Considering they currently rank 31st in the NFL in rushing yards per game, Kevin O’Connell‘s previous employer, the Los Angeles Rams, contacting the Vikings about Mattison wouldn’t be a shock either.
Some of the other potential teams that might have talked to Minnesota about a possible deal for their No. 2 running back include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Buffalo Bills.
Could one of these teams end up convincing the Vikings to let go of Mattison before next week’s trade deadline? That’s something we’ll just have to wait and see.
