Which Minnesota Vikings players are on the way to earning new deals based on their efforts in 2022 so far?

The Minnesota Vikings are about to embark on a series of crucial fixtures following their well-deserved bye-week rest. Things have gone better than anticipated over the first few games of Kevin O’Connell’s reign, with the team currently sitting at 5-1 and in complete control of the NFC North thanks to an indifferent opening from the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay has another stern test at the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. If the Vikings can overcome the Arizona Cardinals on home soil, they’ll have some lofty breathing space heading into the midway stage to strengthen their hopes of a playoff return.

It’s been a refreshing collective effort from top to bottom to date. Something that O’Connell can hopefully build around in the weeks, months, and years ahead in pursuit of turning Minnesota into a real force.

Things won’t be easy, but the talent and hope are there for all to see. With this in mind, here are four Vikings players on the road to new deals based on their efforts in 2022 so far.

It’s been encouraging to see the Vikings’ offensive line providing stability across all areas. There have been moments of struggle, but a strong bookend tackle tandem coupled with progression on the interior means things are looking up for the group providing further developments are made throughout the season.

Ezra Cleveland’s performance levels are increasing gradually. The former second-round selection out of Boise State has given up two sacks and conceded one penalty from 398 snaps en route to a 70.6 grade from Pro Football Focus through six games, which could be enough for Minnesota to extend him this offseason providing there are no complications in the meantime.
