Minnesota Vikings vs. Jets

The New York Jets are a relatively surprise package this season. They got off to a superb start thanks to their smothering defense and efficient production from backup quarterback Joe Flacco, but Zach Wilson’s return coupled with a devastating injury to star running back Breece Hall has seen the wheels come off slightly over the last fortnight.

Gang Green still has all to play for at 5-3. Toppling the Buffalo Bills from the AFC East summit will be difficult and the Miami Dolphins have gone all in if their trades for Jeff Wilson and Bradley Chubb are any indication, but all hope is not lost for this team under promising head coach Robert Saleh.

The Jets’ defense is growing in stature. Quinnen Williams provides the anchor as one of the league’s best defensive tackles and Sauce Gardner already looks like the next great shutdown cornerback despite his lack of professional experience.

Again, this is a difficult game for the Minnesota Vikings. But one they should win given their form and playing in front of a highly charged home crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Prediction: Win (10-2)

Sitting at 10-2 heading down the stretch would be the stuff of dreams. It could all go horribly wrong for the Vikings and usually does, but this would turn them from dark horses to leading Super Bowl contenders if they can pull it off.
