Another youngster steps up
Cameron Dantzler Sr.has been very good for the Minnesota Vikings this year. He has taken some big steps forward while experienced cornerback Patrick Peterson has held his own despite being on the wrong side of 30.
When Dantzler suffered an injury, rookie Akayleb Evans entered the game. The youngster ended fourth on the team in tackles with six and two of those being for a loss as well as one of Minnesota’s seven pass defenses.
Depth at corner is a little bit of a question. but the potential that was seen in Evans during Week 9 can’t go unnoticed. If he is needed, there shouldn’t be any hesitation to plug him into the defense and let him get to work.
Minnesota still has one more cornerback that needs to be evaluated since Andrew Booth Jr. has been getting healthy and hasn’t seen the field for defense yet. This should give the team hopes they are prepared in case depth needs to be tested.
