Akayleb Evans – CB

On the topic of rookies sitting back behind veteran players, this past weekend, Vikings fans saw rookie Akayleb Evans get extended playing time due to an injury to Cam Dantzler.

Evans came into the game and had himself a stellar performance, allowing just one catch for -2 yards on three targets, along with six tackles. It seemed as though Evans was around the ball on every snap, not afraid to make the hit.

While another member of the rookie class, Andrew Booth Jr., was the one who garnered all the hype on draft night, Evans was a pick that some people questioned at the time. While this isn’t a large sample size for Evans, it was certainly a great boost of confidence that he was the right pick to make for the Vikings.

With Dantzler injured and on track to miss the Vikings’ next game, Evans will be in line for his first career start in Week 10. Minnesota fans can only hope he plays at the same level against a potent Buffalo Bills offense.
