Ed Ingram – RG

Shocker, Ed Ingram once again falls on the disappointing list. Against Buffalo, it wasn’t so much for his porous blocking, which was about as bad as it’s been the last few weeks, but he did something twice in this game that we rarely ever see happen. He stepped on his quarterback’s foot bringing him to the ground and wasting a play.

It happening one time can be chalked up as a fluke. It is a rare occurrence but we do see it from time to time. The fact it happened twice makes one believe that there may be something wrong with Ingram’s technique. Looking back at the replay he does take what appears to be an exaggerated step to his left and then basically crushes Cousins’ foot. The second time it happened it didn’t seem as egregious but it still brought the quarterback to the ground.

Ingram needs to go back and look at the tape and talk to his offensive line coach to correct this issue. The Vikings were lucky to still beat the Bills when they basically handed them two downs at different times in the game because of their rookie’s mistake.

Some are calling for Ingram’s job after this game, and maybe it’s time for a change. The crazy thing is that while he makes boneheaded plays like this, he also has some very good moments were he is annihilating his man in the run game. The fact the team is still winning, makes one think we will see Ingram starting again against the Cowboys, but let’s hope the stepping-on-Cousins’ feet trend was just a one-week anomaly.
