Andrew Booth Jr. – CB
Andrew Booth Jr. was the Vikings’ second pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and one who they moved back up for to ensure they’d secure his services. He started out great in camp, making plays and showing he wasn’t intimidated one bit by Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn.
The issue with Booth in college was his inability to stay on the field. The dude just couldn’t stay healthy, and that has carried over to the NFL.
Booth suffered an ankle injury in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers and missed the remainder of camp. He then got himself an injured quad which kept him on the sidelines for four games. Booth has appeared in four games for the Vikings but has yet to register an actual defensive snap. All of Booth’s work so far has come on special teams.
The Vikings could definitely use the Booth they thought they were getting out of Clemson. That Booth was an aggressive corner who stuck to his man like glue and wasn’t afraid to come up and lay a hit. The injuries have definitely set him back, and now fourth-round rookie cornerback Akayleb Evans appears to be well ahead of him on the depth chart.
If Booth gets close to 100 percent, he should start getting work on defense a little more in the coming weeks. That would be a best-case scenario because, as of right now, Booth’s first year in the NFL hasn’t given much to the Vikings, and it has to be considered a bust.
