Ross Blacklock – DL

Ross Blacklock was a guy the Vikings had to have at the end of the preseason. They released a pretty solid player in Armon Watts to make room for him and also sent the Houston Texans a sixth-round draft pick to secure his services.

Blacklock, through a couple of seasons with the Texans, was trending toward being a bust. He was a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and through two seasons, he had registered just 36 tackles and a couple of sacks.

His time in purple has produced similar results. Blacklock has been very nondescript, appearing in eight games and registering just one tackle. The plus side is that his lone tackle was for a loss, so that’s something he can hang his purple helmet on.

Blacklock still has plenty of time to make his presence felt on this team. With Dalvin Tomlinson possibly out for another week, perhaps he’ll be rotated in a little more. But for now, the trade for Blacklock has done little to help out the 2022 Vikings, and maybe just hanging on to Watts would’ve been a better move for this team.
