3 most disappointing Vikings in the Week 12 win over the Patriots
By Nik Edlund
Greg Joseph – K
Another week and another missed extra point by Vikings’ kicker Greg Joseph. Minnesota was in a back-and-forth battle with the Patriots on Thanksgiving night in a game where every single point was crucial, and again, the Vikings kicker kept points off the board by failing to do the easiest aspect of his job, the extra point.
In the end, it didn’t matter as Minnesota won 33-26, and that may be the reason why Joseph will again be kicking for the team next week when the New York Jets come to town. He’s missing these mundane and routine kicks, and while he’s putting his team in a hole and killing momentum at the time, the Vikings are still winning. That being the case likely means that Joseph will continue to be safe.
Minnesota is 11 games into the season, and they probably aren’t going to go with another kicker at this point. Joseph did make both of his field goals and his other extra points, and that, mixed in with the victory, make his job safe for another week.
While the Vikings likely aren’t going to make a move, they at least have to be thinking about it. Joseph has put this team in bad positions in multiple games, and one of these weeks, it’ll bite them in the butt.
