Nick Sciba

Apparently, being the most accurate kicker in college football history wasn’t enough for Nick Sciba to get selected during the 2022 NFL Draft earlier this year.

During his college career at Wake Forest, Sciba converted 89.9 percent of his 89 field-goal attempts, which is the best conversion rate in NCAA, ACC, and Wake Forest history, according to the school. He also made converted 34 field-goal tries in a row, which is an NCAA record as well.

The reason why Sciba didn’t get drafted by an NFL team this past offseason likely has something to do with his leg strength, as his career-long field goal at Wake Forest was only from 49 yards away.

Still, he was given a shot by the Pittsburgh Steelers this summer, but he didn’t end up making the team’s regular-season roster.

Sciba clearly made an impression on the Steelers, however, as they brought him back in October to fill in for Chris Boswell. The undrafted rookie started Pittsburgh’s Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he made all three of his kicks (two field goals and one extra point).

Sciba is definitely very accurate. But would the Vikings be willing to sacrifice the option to kick from a far distance in exchange for someone who is better at converting extra points than Greg Joseph?
