Joseph is going to be the kicker the rest of the way

There have been calls for Greg Joseph‘s head all season long. It makes sense too, because he hasn’t been very good. His biggest struggle has been with extra points, where he has missed a league-leading five. This is the most routine aspect of his job, yet he continues to leave points off the board for the Vikings.

Joseph’s field goal percentage is nothing to shake a stick at either. He’s hit 76.2 percent of his attempts, and if head coach Kevin O’Connell is hesitant to put him out there attempting anything over 45 yards, that’s the reason why.

While Joseph hasn’t been great, he’s going to be the Vikings’ kicker for the rest of the season. The team would’ve made a move by now if they were overly concerned about his missed attempts. The free agent market isn’t exactly ripe with upgrades, and anyone the Vikings bring in will be an overall downgrade.

Vikings fans need to get used to the idea that the team will ride and die with the leg of Greg Joseph. The lack of options on the free agent wire and the fact he’s still on the team, points to him being their option the rest of the way. So keep the Rolaids close because every extra point and field goal attempt from here on out is going to be very stressful to watch.
