Redrafting the Vikings 2022 rookie class following the Andrew Booth injury
By Luke Parrish
Fourth-Round Pick (118th overall)
Original Selection: Akayleb Evans – CB (Missouri)
Redraft Selection: Evans
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was a huge fan of Akayleb Evans in the draft, and that has not changed. He has been perhaps the best rookie on the roster and was a steal at this stage in the draft. The Vikings would make this selection again in a heartbeat.
Fifth-Round Pick No. 1 (165th overall)
Original Selection: Esezi Otomewo – DL (Minnesota)
Redraft Selection: Kingsley Enagbare – OLB (South Carolina)
Kingsley Enagbare is a physical specimen that would be a quality rotational rusher behind Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith. He has four QB hits and 2.0 sacks for the Packers this season, while Otomewo has yet to make an appearance for Minnesota.
Fifth-Round Pick No. 2 (169th overall)
Original Selection: Ty Chandler – RB (North Carolina)
Redraft Selection: Malcolm Rodriguez – LB (Oklahoma State)
Malcolm Rodriguez would never last this long in a redo of this draft. He has been phenomenal for the Lions and could have been a strong third linebacker for the Vikings behind Kendricks and Jordan Hicks.
Sixth-Round Pick No. 1 (184th overall)
Original Selection: Vederian Lowe – OT (Illinois)
Redraft Selection: Jamaree Salyer – G/T (Georgia)
Jamaree Salyer was a far better prospect than his draft selection showed. He is now starting at left tackle for the Chargers after injuries have once again ravaged their offensive line. He would have been worth a shot as a developmental guard late in the draft.
Sixth-Round Pick No. 2 (191st overall)
Original Selection: Jalen Nailor – WR (Michigan State)
Redraft Selection: Nailor
Nailor was drafted as a depth piece and special teamer and has been just that for the Vikings. Making the roster as a sixth-round pick is a win for Nailor and for the team.
Seventh-Round Pick (227th overall)
Original Selection: Nick Muse – TE (South Carolina)
Redraft Selection: Isiah Pacheco – RB (Rutgers)
To make up for passing on Ty Chandler earlier in the draft, the Vikings can still get an extra running back with Isiah Pacheco. Pacheco has been a slight breakout player for the Chiefs with excellent return ability as well.
