Fans of the New York Jets were less than thrilled with the job done by the referees during their team’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Sunday’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets was a hard-fought battle, but only one team could come away with a win. That team turned out to be the Vikings after they were able to hold off a comeback effort by the Jets in the second half.

Despite their team’s offense putting up 486 total yards and only scoring one touchdown, New York’s fans were up in arms during the game and after the loss about the performance of the referees.

Jets fans were not happy with some of the calls made by the referees on Sunday that didn’t favor their favorite team. Some of the New York fans took their frustrations to Twitter to share their feelings with the public.

New York Jets fans are unhappy with the referees following the loss to the Minnesota Vikings

Just as players and coaches around the NFL are never free of mistakes, refs aren’t always going to make the decisions on the field that everyone agrees with either.

Jets fans clearly felt the referees on Sunday made plenty of mistakes, and they let them hear about it on Twitter.

New York ended up getting flagged for a total of six penalties on Sunday, while the Vikings only drew three flags. However, Minnesota was penalized for more yards (44) than the Jets (40) during the game.

New York had plenty of opportunities to make up for some of the instances in which their fans claim they were screwed by the refs. The Jets went 1-for-6 in the red zone on Sunday, and had they converted just one more of their red zone trips into a touchdown, they likely would have left U.S. Bank Stadium as the winner instead of the Vikings.

But they didn’t, and so the next logical thing for New York fans to do is, of course, blame the refs for favoring Minnesota.

The referees obviously were calling the game in favor of the Vikings on Sunday, which is why there was no flag thrown after this helmet-to-helmet hit on Kirk Cousins.
