3 best prop bets for Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions in Week 14
By Adam Patrick
What are the best Minnesota Vikings prop bets to take a chance on when they head out on the road in Week 14 to face the Detroit Lions?
A win on Sunday over the Detroit Lions is all that it will take for the Minnesota Vikings to clinch the NFC North title this season. Despite Minnesota’s 10-2 record, however, oddsmakers aren’t very confident in them leaving Detroit with a win this weekend.
The Vikings are viewed as underdogs this week by almost every major Sportsbook. Point spreads are typically a good way to gauge how a game will turn out, but having a 10-2 Minnesota team as an underdog to the 5-7 Lions seems incredibly odd.
Well, aside from the strange point spread, what are some of the best Vikings-related prop bets to place a wager on for Sunday’s matchup in Detroit?
Best Minnesota Vikings prop bets for Week 14 vs. the Detroit Lions
Kirk Cousins Prop Bet:
- OVER 1.5 passing touchdowns (-145)
Whether it’s due to playing in his home state of Michigan or something else, Kirk Cousins has put up some monster numbers during his road trips to Detroit as a member of the Vikings.
Since 2018, Cousins has thrown 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions while averaging 334 passing yards per contest in four road matchups against the Lions. Combine this with Detroit’s current defense allowing the fourth-most touchdowns per game in the NFL this season, and the Minnesota quarterback shouldn’t have any trouble finding people to throw to in the end zone on Sunday.
Justin Jefferson Prop Bet:
- OVER 94.5 receiving yards (-115)
If you are spooked by the Lions holding Justin Jefferson to just 14 receiving yards back in Week 3, don’t be. Jefferson on the road this year is an entirely different animal.
In five road games this season, the Vikings’ top pass-catcher is averaging 122 receiving yards per contest. Jefferson will be going up against a Detroit defense that has allowed 14 opposing offensive players to finish with 75 receiving yards or more in a game this year.
Oh yeah, and in his two career games at Ford Field, Jefferson has averaged 158 receiving yards per matchup. Expect a wonderful performance from the best wide receiver in the NFL this weekend.
T.J. Hockenson Prop Bet:
- Anytime touchdown scorer (+180)
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has been very aware of all the narratives that have surrounded each of his team’s games this season. So it seems very likely that O’Connell already has something drawn up for Sunday that will result in T.J. Hockenson scoring a touchdown against his former team.
The Lions have one of the worst red zone defenses in the NFL this year (31st in the league), so Hockenson should get plenty of chances to haul in a pass inside the end zone this weekend.
