The Minnesota Vikings won the NFC North and a playoff spot

A win or tie this week would have solidified the division title for the Minnesota Vikings. The win keeps the team in second place in the conference for now since they are very unlikely to surpass the Philadelphia Eagles for the top seed in the NFC.

Winning the division ensures that the Vikings will host a playoff game in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. At this point, it is hard to guess who their opponent will be, but it could be one of the other NFC East teams.

For a year with a new general manager, head coach, coaching staff, offense, and defense, it’s impressive that the team has won their division. Especially considering this could be looked at as a year of soft rebuilding.

It is still important to take this season for what it is; a pleasant surprise. To expect a deep playoff run might be setting yourself up for disappointment. But it is wonderful the team can be so competitive this soon after major changes.
