Dalvin Cook – RB

Dalvin Cook is one of the superstars on the 2022 Vikings who were not named to the Pro Bowl. It was a bit shocking as Cook’s had one of the best and healthiest seasons of his career.

Cook has rushed for 1,109 yards, which puts him sixth in the entire NFL. He has found the end zone eight times on the ground and two more through the air. He’s caught 36 balls for 278 yards, proving to be the dual threat he has been his entire career.

So looking at those stats, it makes one wonder why Cook didn’t get voted in. Some guesses would be that maybe it’s because he isn’t the focal point of the Vikings’ offense the way he used to be.

When Mike Zimmer was in charge, the Vikings were definitely a running football team, and Cook was the focal point. Now under Kevin O’Connell, it’s all about the passing game, and Justin Jefferson has become the catalyst of the offense.

He also hasn’t had a lot of huge games. Cook has rushed for over 100 yards just twice on the season and has had a few real dud games where he’s rushed for under 20 and 30 yards. There are also backs who got voted in, like Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders, and Tony Pollard, who play for teams with huge fan bases and clearly collaborated to get their boys into the all-star game.

Dalvin Cook is having a Pro Bowl-worthy season, but unfortunately, he won’t be partaking in the activities and events being held at Allegiant Stadium this February, unless someone above him goes down with an injury or ends up playing in the Super Bowl.
