5 Bold Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers – Week 17
By Chris Schad
The Minnesota Vikings are on their way to the playoffs, but will the Green Bay Packers score a win to help their own playoff odds?
One year ago, the Minnesota Vikings made their way to Lambeau Field as a broken team. With a 7-8 record, the Vikings fought for their playoff lives and took on the Green Bay Packers in a must-win scenario. Things didn’t go well for the Vikings that day, but it was the start of a year that has seen plenty of change ahead of Sunday’s rematch.
The Vikings come into Sunday’s game with a 12-3 record and are looking to secure the second seed in the NFC. They are a team that defies analytics and won their last game against the New York Giants with a 61-yard field goal from Greg Joseph. Needless to say, things are going well in Minnesota.
The outlook isn’t as rosy in Green Bay. The Packers have had a turbulent season, limping to a 7-8 record. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t looked like himself, and after three straight wins, he’s looking to lead his team back to .500 and fuel an improbable playoff run.
Vikings fans may have deja vu after that last paragraph considering their team had been in the same position in the final years of the Mike Zimmer era. Regardless, Minnesota would love to spoil the Packers’ playoff odds and gain momentum in the final weeks of the regular season.
It’s always unpredictable when the Vikings and Packers get together, but we’ll give you five bold predictions to see if Minnesota can continue to flip the script on Sunday.
