5 drives that cost the Vikings a win over the Packers in Week 17
Drive No. 4
Another solid drive for the Vikings ended with a missed field goal from Greg Joseph, who was the hero the week before against the New York Giants.
On 2nd-and-5 from the Green Bay 30-yard line, Kirk Cousins was sacked for a loss of nine yards. This sack was frustrating because Justin Jefferson was wide open on a post into the Packers’ quarters coverage.
It looks like Cousins took an extra hitch on his three-step drop that attributed to the sack rather than climbing the pocket, but that would have been an incredibly difficult maneuver and Christian Darrisaw was simply beaten on this play.
Minnesota seemingly had multiple receivers open on this play. Jefferson had daylight on the post with the split safeties and the quarters coverage lifted the defense, which opened up Adam Thielen and K.J. Osborn underneath, Cousins just did not have time to process everything, step up and make a throw. You can clearly see he wants to go to Jefferson before the sack. Ugh.
