The New York Giants are back in the postseason for the first time since 2016 and face a familiar in the Minnesota Vikings.

The Giants and Vikings met in Minnesota in Week 16, a thrilling 27-24 victory for the hosts on a last second field goal from Greg Joseph. Will the Giants right the ship on Sunday afternoon in the postseason?

Let’s break down the odds and find out:

Giants vs. Vikings odds, spread and total

Giants vs. Vikings betting trends

  • The Giants went 13-4 against the spread (ATS) in the regular season
  • The Giants went 10-2 ATS as an underdog
  • The Giants went 7-1 ATS on the road
  • The Vikings went 8-8-1 ATS this season
  • The Vikings went OVER in 10 of 17 games in the regular season
  • The Giants went UNDER in three of 10 games this season (pushed once)

Giants vs. Vikings Prediction and Pick

The side and total is similar to the Week 16 matchup between these two, the Giants got a slight upgrade after closing as 4.5-point underdogs in the first matchup, now +3, and the total is the same at 48.5.

Despite going over in the first game with Joseph’s game winner, I believe the under has merit in this game as the Vikings offensive line enters a bit banged up.

For starters, right tackle Brian O’Neil suffered a calf injury in Week 17 and missed the Week 18 regular season finale against the Bears, his status is up in the air this early in the week, but it was deemed “significant” at the time of the injury. Further, the team’s backup center Austin Schlottmann got hurt in Week 17 and the team’s starting center, Garrett Bradbury will likely be sidelined with a back injury in this game.

This is a problem against the Giants aggressive pass rush, headlined by defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who has 7.5 sacks on the year.

There’s also the concern for the Vikings about their ground game. While Alexander Mattison is capable of pitching in, the team watched Dalvin Cook hit the medical tent with a leg injury on Sunday in Week 18. If the ground game is ineffective and the offensive line can’t hold up against a stout Giants defensive line, this game can be more of a rock fight than the first meeting.

The Vikings have made their fortune this season on winning one score games, and this one likely will be one as well. I’ll count on it being a low score affair and wait for the last second field goal once again.
