Minnesota has a real backup QB
No offense to Trevor Siemian, Kellen Mond, and the other backup quarterbacks in recent Minnesota Vikings history, but it was extremely hard to be comfortable about the thought of Kirk Cousins missing a play, yet alone an entire game.
Trading for Nick Mullens from the Las Vegas Raiders was a very wise move and although Week 18 wasn’t his best showing, he still looked s though he could fill in if needed and still give Minnesota a chance.
Mullens completed 11 of his 13 passes for 116 yards while throwing one interception.. Several of his passes looked crisp and on target. Mullens and Kirk Cousins combined for only five incomplete passes on the day, a nice mark.
Of course, Cousins will get the reps for the postseason barring a surprise that keeps him off the field. However, it won’t be immediate doom and gloom if Nick Mullens has to step in and throw the football a bit.
