Re-evaluating a position
Dalvin Cook will have a salary cap hit of $11,883,625 million in 2023. He was sixth in the NFL in rushing with 1,173 yards, getting many of those of bigger plays from scrimmage while struggling behind a questionable offensive line.
Cook’s yards per carry (4.4) were the lowest in a season in his career but the scariest part of his game is no longer concerns about his durability but his ability to hang onto the football on a weekly basis.
There were only four fumbles recorded by Pro Football Reference but that number seems low. Plus, each of those fumbles seemed to come at very inopportune times.
At a time when having a lead running back is rare, players like Cook can’t be making many or high-profile mistakes. the Minnesota Vikings already have some interesting young running backs on the roster chomping at the bit for an opportunity.
