Which quarterback prospects could the Minnesota Vikings target to replace Kirk Cousins in 2024?

Although Kirk Cousins is still putting up outstanding numbers and he helped lead the Minnesota Vikings to 13 wins this season, nothing lasts forever. The quarterback isn’t getting any younger, and with his contract up for renewal in 2024, those in power should already be looking at alternatives for long-term sustainability.

Cousins got a one-year extension last spring, and rightfully so. A new regime needed his leadership and consistency under center to smooth their transition, which was worth its weight in gold as the Vikings won the NFC North comfortably en route to a postseason return.

This will be the last thing on Cousins’ mind right now. The full focus will be on beating the New York Giants and moving one step closer to an elusive first Super Bowl, even though many within the national media aren’t expecting much from Minnesota when the knockout stage begins.

A lot can happen between now and when the time comes, but here are five quarterback prospects the Vikings could target to replace Cousins in 2024.

Bo Nix – Oregon

This seemed a laughable notion last season. However, transferring from Auburn to Oregon brought the best out of Bo Nix to such an extent that people are starting to look at the signal-caller differently.

There was impressive growth in Nixon’s game this season. A newfound poise and pocket awareness were evident throughout, but building on this is imperative in 2023 after the prospect opted for another year in college rather than taking his chances at the next level.

Nix went from an afterthought to someone on the radar. And the Vikings might be one team taking a keen interest in his development.
