5 QB prospects who could replace Kirk Cousins in Minnesota in 2024

Drake Maye – North Carolina
Obviously, there’s no way of telling where the Minnesota Vikings will be picking during the 2024 NFL Draft. But trading up for one of the more elite quarterbacks should be considered if influential figures within the organization decide to part ways with Kirk Cousins once his contract expires.
If this scenario does come to fruition, then Drake Maye enters the equation. The redshirt freshman took college football by storm in 2022, emerging quickly as a possible Heisman Trophy winner and producing some jaw-dropping moments throughout the campaign.
The North Carolina prospect has an untold amount of potential. His arm strength is off the charts, which is matched by elusiveness in the pocket, a fearless attitude, and solid progression through his reads for good measure.
Maye is only going to get better with additional experience. If the gunslinger achieves similar feats with the Tar Heels in 2023, expect his name to be one of the first called should he take early NFL eligibility.
With a 66.2 completion percentage for 4,321 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 698 rushing yards, seven scores on the ground, and a passer efficiency rating of 157.9 last season, Maye’s credentials speak for themselves. Something that’s sure to make him one of college football’s hottest commodities next time around.
