Which way could the Minnesota Vikings go with their selections during the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft?
After a season that promised much and finished with a 13-4 record, the Minnesota Vikings had nothing but an early playoff exit to show for their efforts. Something that many anticipated thanks in no small part to their abysmal defense.
Ed Donatell’s arrival and his switch to a 3-4 base scheme just didn’t work out. The personnel was too long in the tooth for such a change, which led to the defensive coordinator being removed from his duties after another inept showing against the New York Giants.
Regardless of whether Donatell was the main problem or not, Minnesota’s defense is in desperate need of reinforcements at every level. Given the team is in the midst of yet more salary-cap hell, bolstering this critical area of play via the 2023 NFL Draft is the best solution for all parties.
The Carolina Panthers broke the mold in 2020 by becoming the only team in NFL history to utilize every draft selection on defense. But if the Vikings had any sense, this is something those in power will strongly contemplate.
