The Vikings have already started retooling by firing defensive coordinator Ed Donatell and several fan favorites could be sent packing in the coming months. But for those expecting a full-blown rebuild, there are several obstacles to turning Minnesota into a real-life Madden franchise.
The biggest one is the success from last season. A 13-win season could suggest that the Vikings are closer than they are to being a Super Bowl team.
Ownership put their foot down last year, demanding the return of several veterans and while some of those players should be shed for younger, faster replacements, others could find their way back to Minnesota next season.
