5 reasons why the Vikings should consider trading Kirk Cousins in 2023
By Chris Schad
Kirk Cousins is the Vikings’ best trade asset
When drawing up an offseason plan for the Vikings, the top two priorities should be creating cap space and acquiring draft picks. While some have drawn up trades for Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen, nobody on the Vikings roster would command a bigger investment than Kirk Cousins.
There are several teams who will be looking for a new signal caller this offseason and when Aaron Rodgers comes off the board, it should open up a slew of desperate teams and Cousins will appear to be the bell of the ball.
Imagine if the Indianapolis Colts call Minnesota for the second straight season. What if the New York Jets miss out on bringing Rodgers to Gotham? What if the Miami Dolphins are looking for a more durable quarterback? And what if the San Francisco 49ers are more worried about Brock Purdy’s elbow than they’re letting on?
That’s just a handful of teams who could be looking to upgrade at quarterback this offseason. With the possibility of other teams getting involved, Cousins could command a first-round pick or replenish some of the draft capital that was traded away last offseason. If the offer is right, the Vikings would be crazy not to take it.
