Seventh-Round Pick

Jaren Hall – QB (BYU)

Kirk Cousins isn’t getting any younger and in a perfect world, the Vikings would take a stab at quarterback earlier in the draft. At this point, they don’t have the draft capital to move up nor is there an intriguing prospect to take in the middle rounds. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t take a swing and Hall could be a nice flyer to take at the end of the draft.

Hall’s best trait is a monster arm that produced a 94.7 PFF grade on deep passes last season. While he struggles under pressure, he has the arm and mobility that puts him on scouts’ radar despite turning 25 in April.

Selecting Hall and hoping that he turns into the next franchise quarterback for the Vikings would be a mistake but he could be a developmental prospect that turns into a solid backup. After panic-trading this year’s seventh-round pick for Nick Mullens after Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion struggled in the preseason, it would benefit the Vikings to take a quarterback in the draft.
