The Minnesota Vikings recently hired Brian Flores to be their new defensive coordinator and he will want a particular coaching staff to work with him.

Changes were anticipated on the defensive side of the ball for the Minnesota Vikings and the first big change was bringing in Brian Flores to be the team’s defensive coordinator following the firing of Ed Donatell.

Now that Flores is in Minnesota, he will begin to accumulate his staff. Sadly, that means that some of the current staff will be replaced with individuals who fit what he wants to accomplish for the 2023 season.

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler is reporting on Twitter that the Minnesota Vikings and Greg Manusky are parting ways. Manusky was the inside linebackers coach in 2022 and a player for the team from 1991 to 1993.

He had previous defensive coordinator experience with Washington and San Diego. That resume should help him to land a position somewhere else in the league after moving on from the purple and gold.

Meanwhile, the new opening for the Minnesota Vikings should allow them to find someone who can help Flores execute his vision for the team’s defense going forward while sharing excitement about the vision of the franchise in general.

More changes will likely be made to the team’s coaching staff as the offseason continues. The defense was atrocious in 2022 and the inside linebackers were disappointing in both coverage and stopping ball carriers last season.

As always, thanks go out to Greg Manusky for his time and contributions to the Minnesota Vikings. However, this is a great opportunity for Brian Flores, Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to build a successful and cohesive coaching staff that will help them bring the purple and gold back to the playoffs in 2023.
