Corey Davis – WR (New York Jets)

2022 Stats:

  • 32 catches
  • 536 yards
  • 2 TD

The Jets have not gotten what they wanted from Corey Davis in his two seasons with the team. He was signed to be their top receiver in 2021 but the numbers are not there for Davis, who has since taken a back seat to some young guys in the passing game.

Davis’ contract presents an interesting situation for the Jets, who have a potential out this offseason that would result in a dead cap hit of less than $700k this season. If they hang on to him or trade him, his cap number will be a little over $11 million.

The Vikings need to get better at wide receiver while shedding the money that Adam Thielen is due in 2023. Davis is one of the best deep threats that will be available this offseason at a price that is not insurmountable. Adding him to the offense would drastically open things up for Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson over the middle of the field.

For some added context, Corey Davis averaged 16.8 yards per catch and an average depth of target of 15.3 yards. Even if he is more of a rotational player that shares time with K.J. Osborn and perhaps others, Davis is the type of vertical threat the Vikings currently lack.
