Which current Minnesota Vikings players will step into a more prominent role during the 2023 season?

The offseason looms and the Minnesota Vikings have a ton of work to do in order to fix the roster. Free agency and the NFL Draft will be sparse for the Vikings, barring any significant moves to acquire more capital, which means they will need contributions from elsewhere.

Minnesota’s defense will see a massive overhaul – or at least that should be the goal, given how ugly last season was for that unit. The Vikings could also lose quite a chunk of snaps from last year’s roster, including Patrick Peterson, Dalvin Tomlinson, Adam Thielen, and Eric Kendricks. Those will not be easy players to replace if they are indeed left off the roster.

There were some shining moments last year from young studs on both sides of the ball which makes this transition into 2023 a bit easier to get excited about. Some of those bright spots will change the strategy surrounding the draft and free agency.

The biggest key to fixing the defense specifically will be finding the right players to fit Brian Flores’ scheme and get the most out of his time in Minnesota. Even if he is with the Vikings for one season, he can leave a lasting impact on the defense for years to come.
