5 prospects moving up the Vikings draft board after the 2023 NFL Combine
By Nik Edlund
Stetson Bennett – QB (Georgia)
Stetson Bennett is a two-time National Champion, but, as a draft prospect, he was flying under the radar a little bit as the Combine approached. All the quarterback talk has surrounded Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson, and Bennett has become an afterthought.
While his performance won’t put him in the same breath as those quarterbacks, it did generate some positive buzz and surely moved him up many teams’ lists, including the Vikings.
Bennett’s numbers in the workouts were surprising. He ran a 4.67 forty-yard dash, broad jumped 9’10”, and had a vertical of 33.5″. He showed more athleticism than many were expecting to see. While those numbers were nice, where he really impressed was throwing the football.
Bennett got rave reviews from both Daniel Jeremiah and Charles Davis, who were covering the Combine for NFL Network. Jeremiah stated that “He threw beautiful deep balls… he has been the big winner if you are talking overall performance of the day.” Davis went on to say that Bennett’s deep ball was “as good as any thrower out there.”
The Vikings are in the market for a young quarterback to groom behind Kirk Cousins. Bennett is a smart, sneaky athletic, experienced, and accurate thrower of the football. While his size isn’t elite, his stock is pointing up, and the Vikings’ surely took notice.
