Jerick McKinnon

2022 Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Should the Minnesota Vikings choose to keep Dalvin Cook for the 2023 season and beyond, bringing back a fan-favorite in Jerick McKinnon would make a lot of sense. Fresh off a Super Bowl title with the Chiefs, McKinnon has proven himself as one of the game’s best-pass-catching running backs.

McKinnon was a key part of the Vikings’ memorable 2017 playoff run, splitting backfield reps with Latavius Murray on a surprisingly effective ground game.

McKinnon had 9 receiving touchdowns last year on the Chiefs and will bring that skill set to a very dynamic Vikings passing attack. This would also allow Cook to be spelled on passing downs. As effective as Mattison was filling in for Cook, he did not contribute much as a threat in the passing game.

He’ll be 31 years old before the season starts, which should cap his annual salary around $2 million, making him a fit at RB2 for the Vikings and providing the team with another much-needed pass-catcher.
