Anthony Barr, linebacker

Anthony Barr was the first draft pick of the Mike Zimmer era of the Minnesota Vikings, His arrival changed the tone of the team’s defense and added a speedy linebacker to add even more pressure from the outside of the 4-3 defense.

Barr spent eight seasons in Minnesota before signing with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 where he only had one sack to go with his 58 combined tackles. He’s only had five sacks in his last three seasons (23 games played).

He will have trouble finding a team to best use his abilities. As a linebacker, he likely wouldn’t be best in a 3-4 as an edge rusher. And teams that run a 4-3 might look for a younger defender than the 31-year-old veteran.

Four Pro Bowl nods from 2015 through 2018 prove that he is a notable player who could get some attention once free agency slows down. Any team that signs him will need to have an idea of his role in their defense before bringing him in.
