CB Cam Sutton

Cam Sutton was a name that was linked to the Vikings early in free agency. He had just spent a season with current Vikings defensive coordinator, Brian Flores and is still relatively young at 28 years old, making him an ideal target.

Sutton was coming off a very solid season where he racked up 43 total tackles, three interceptions, and 15 passes defended. He’s not overly tall at 5’11 but is rangy with long arms and an uncanny sense of when to go up and attack the football in contested catch situations.

The Lions ended up signing Sutton to a pretty big contract. He got a three-year $33 million dollar deal to come in and be their number one cornerback. The Lions’ secondary now looks pretty solid with Sutton, Okudah, and Gardner-Johnson at safety.

Sutton will be an issue for Justin Jefferson. While he can play inside or out, the Lions would be wise to pair Sutton on Jefferson as he posted a 44.4 completion percentage in coverage last year, which was fifth lowest amongst all cornerbacks. The Lions paid a lot of money for Sutton and while there isn’t a corner in the league that can shut Justin Jefferson down, Sutton has the ability to at least put him on some bad weeks, and that could be a major problem.
