Some Minnesota Vikings news popped up on Monday when it was revealed that Kris Boyd has signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
The frequency of Minnesota Vikings news certainly has gone down a bit during the last few weeks. But on Monday, we were handed some news in the form of former Vikings cornerback signing a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
Vikings News: Kris Boyd signs with the Arizona Cardinals
With his departure on Monday, Boyd joins Patrick Peterson, Duke Shelley, and Cameron Dantzler as cornerbacks from Minnesota’s 2022 roster that won’t be returning for the 2023 season.
Chandon Sullivan is currently still a free agent, but he’s not expected to be back with the Vikings this year either.
So Minnesota is likely returning to the field for the 2023 campaign without five of their top seven cornerbacks from a year ago.
Returning to the Vikings’ corner room next season will be Andrew Booth Jr. and Akayleb Evans, both of whom will be in their second years with the franchise. They’ll be joined by veteran Byron Murphy, who was signed during free agency this offseason, and, most likely, multiple rookies.
Minnesota’s group of cornerbacks is going to look a lot different in 2023. But major changes had to be made after the Vikings ranked 31st in the NFL in pass defense last season.
