Odell Beckham will wear purple in 2023, but it won’t be with the Minnesota Vikings, as the veteran receiver has signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s safe to say that some Minnesota Vikings fans were disappointed when the news dropped on Sunday about free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens gave Odell Beckham Jr. what the Minnesota Vikings could not

In order to land Beckham, the Ravens gave the veteran receiver an amount of money that the Vikings and a number of other teams around the NFL weren’t able to compete with.

The one-year contract Baltimore gave Beckham is reportedly worth up to $18 million, and it includes $15 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Given the lack of cap space Minnesota currently has (less than $1.5 million), they didn’t stand a chance against the Ravens when it came to signing Beckham. But considering the veteran receiver is now 30-years-old and he’s suffered two torn ACLs since 2020, the Vikings are probably better off investing their money elsewhere this offseason.

Will Minnesota regret not signing Beckham this year, or will the Vikings look smart by not paying a bunch of money to a veteran receiver with a significant risk of injury?
