CB Joey Porter Jr.

Joey Porter Jr. has all the traits the Minnesota Vikings are looking for in a corner. He’s got the size at 6’2.5 and 193 pounds. He’s got long 34-inch arms and 4.4 speed. He’s also the son of an NFL linebacker so the game is in his blood and the fact he’s grown up around it proves he’s got a very high football I.Q.

His stats aren’t mind-blowing, but his 11 passes defended in just 10 games last year shows how good he can be in coverage. While he’s an impressive prospect, Porter could all for reasons outside of his control.

This is a draft that doesn’t have a lot of consensus top players outside the top 10, so how teams rank these prospects could vary quite differently than all the boards, mocks, and simulators that are out there. Teams may have higher grades at different positions and if they stick to their boards and go with a higher-ranked position, that could cause Porter to slide down the board.

There are also cornerback prospects like Deonte Banks who are rising up the board due to fantastic workouts, and they could jump Porter if a team buys into the hype. While it is unlikely to happen, Porter Jr. falling to pick 23 isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
