DT Jalen Carter
Jalen Carter has gotten nothing but negative buzz since he won the National Championship with the Georgia Bulldogs. First, he had to leave the Combine to go and get arrested for his involvement in a fatal drag racing accident. He then had to leave his pro day workout early, because he was so out of shape that he couldn’t even finish it.
It’s also been reported that he won’t visit with teams outside the top ten and he’s got plenty of game tape where it’s clear he takes plays off. There are teams who have supposedly taken him off their draft boards completely.
While the noise surrounding Carter has been nothing but negative there’s still a strong belief he’ll go in the top 10. The dude is so good and can be so dominant that a team with a high pick will feel obliged to take him. They’ll hope being around professionals will help him mature, and become committed to becoming the best player he can be.
That is the hope, but there’s also the chance that the negative buzz is worse than the media is letting on. Maybe the majority of teams picking in the top 20 will be scared off by his horrible draft season, and he’ll take a historic tumble down the board. If this happens he could last until pick 23, and then the Minnesota Vikings will have a huge decision on their hands.
