Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee)

Measurements:

Height: 6-foot-0 | Weight: 176 pounds

2022 Stats:

  • 67 Receptions
  • 1,267 Yards
  • 15 Touchdowns
  • 18.9 Yards Per Catch

By just purely looking at the numbers, you would assume that Jalin Hyatt is an elite deep-threat receiver, and his game tape backs up this thought. Hyatt is seen as one of the biggest boom-or-bust prospects in this draft class, which makes predicting where he’ll be selected fairly difficult. Minnesota is in desperate need of the deep-threat type player that Hyatt is, but is he worth the risk for the Minnesota Vikings?

The biggest knock on Hyatt’s game is that his route tree is limited. He’s a deep ball receiver that does his job exceptionally well, but that may be the extent of his route running. Some scouts have likened him to DeSean Jackson and Will Fuller, who are very good receivers but have their drawbacks in versatility.

Minnesota is a breeding ground for great receivers, so there is certainly a chance that they can mold Hyatt into something more. If Hyatt falls to the Vikings’ Round 3 pick he is a no-brainer for the selection, but using their round 1 pick on him could come back to haunt Minnesota.
