After appearing in 10 games for the Minnesota Vikings last season, young cornerback Akayleb Evans will be ready to make even more of a splash in 2023. This time he’ll have a new defensive coordinator to make plays for, as Ed Donatell is out and Brian Flores is in.
Before camp even arrives, plenty of Minnesota fans are going to be talking about the second-year defensive back and his incredible athleticism. Why, you ask? A new video made its way to Twitter of Evans showing the kind of leaping ability that belongs in a video game. Seriously, this is simply out of this world:
Vikings CB Akayleb Evans is going viral on Twitter thanks to a new workout video
How in the heck did he do that and barely break a sweat in the process? Plenty of us Average Joes out there hurt our backs just watching this video of Evans doing the unthinkable like that. He made it looks effortless there. In the end, from a seated position, he ended up jumping more than four feet. Again, wow.
This is something that must make Flores and head man Kevin O’Connell pretty darn excited. In his 10 games last year, with two starts, the 6-2, 200-pounder recorded 23 total tackles, two pass deflections and one forced fumble. These weren’t head-turning stats by any means, but not bad for a rookie campaign.
Looking ahead to 2023, Evans is going to want to make a splash for the NFC North side. He’s clearly putting in the offseason work to help his chances of seeing even more playing time.
Evans has incredible potential, and this video alone has the Minnesota supporters excited to see what he’ll be able to get done next campaign. You never know, Evans could be in line for a breakout season for the Vikes.
