It's no secret that Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is going to have interest from multiple teams around the NFL who are looking to hire a new head coach in the upcoming offseason.
Many expect Flores to get interviewed for several of these openings, but the fact that he still has a lawsuit against the league and multiple teams has some wondering if he will actually be selected to fill one of the head coach vacancies.
Adam Schefter was asked about this exact thought on Monday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," and the ESPN NFL insider doesn't sound like he believes the lawsuit will stand in the way of Flores getting another head-coaching opportunity.
"If there's an owner that wants somebody, whether it's Brian Flores or John Gruden or somebody, whatever. I mean, I guess there aren't too many people that have litigation going on against the league. [But] if there's an owner that wants to hire one of those coaches and felt strongly enough about one of them, I think they do it."
Lawsuit against NFL not expected to prevent Minnesota Vikings DC Brian Flores from becoming a head coach again in 2026
Schefter's comments are a bit surprising, but he's also right. There are plenty of owners around the league who would have no problem hiring Flores to be their team's new head coach despite the fact that he's still in the middle of suing the NFL.
There are already rumors that the Dallas Cowboys are interested in bringing him in to be the team's new defensive coordinator, which would cause one to assume that Jerry Jones, one of the most powerful owners in the entire league, doesn't view Flores's lawsuit as a problem.
Schefter is arguably the most plugged-in insider covering the NFL today, so if he doesn't think the lawsuit will get in the way of Flores landing a new head-coaching gig, then there's a good chance that he's correct.
With this in mind, Minnesota should probably start generating a list of possible replacements for Flores, if they haven't already.
The outside interest in the current Vikings defensive coordinator feels higher than it has ever been during his tenure with the team, so no one, including the franchise that currently employs him, should be surprised if he lands a new job elsewhere this offseason.
