Adrian Peterson is the greatest running back in the history of the Minnesota Vikings, and on Monday, the team revealed that his name will be added to the franchise's most exclusive club.
The Vikings have announced that Peterson will be the newest member of the team's Ring of Honor, and the induction ceremony will take place at some point during the upcoming 2026 season.
Along with the announcement, Minnesota shared a video of the All-Pro running back receiving the news from none other than legendary former Vikings defensive tackle, and fellow Ring of Honor member, John Randle.
What started as a trip to talk to the rookies ended with a Ring of Honor surprise.

Minnesota Vikings to induct former RB Adrian Peterson into Ring of Honor
With his induction into the team's Ring of Honor next season, Peterson will join a group of Vikings legends that includes Randle, Fran Tarkenton, Randy Moss, Alan Page, Bud Grant, Randall McDaniel, Cris Carter, Dennis Green, and more.
After Monday's news, three of the last four additions to Minnesota's Ring of Honor, Peterson, Jared Allen, and Kevin Williams, were all part of the 2009 team that made it all to that season's NFC Championship, which just goes to show how talented the Vikings' roster was that year.
Despite Peterson's record-setting efforts, that was the furthest a Minnesota team was ever able to make it in the playoffs with him on the roster.
The former Vikings running back was able to lead the team to the postseason four times during his career, but, unfortunately, none of those trips ended with an appearance in the Super Bowl.
Peterson's most memorable season with Minnesota, of course, was in 2012 when he was literally unstoppable, and his performance resulted in him winning the NFL's MVP award.
To this day, he is still the last non-quarterback to win the league's MVP award.
Following Peterson's induction into the Vikings' Ring of Honor next season, there's a good chance that he will also be selected as one of the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame when the class of 2027 is revealed next February.
This is the first year that he is eligible to earn a gold jacket, and it would be a gigantic shock if he isn't voted in during his first time on the ballot.
