Football is an aggressive sport. Even though it is only training camp for the Minnesota Vikings, that doesn't mean the team isn't giving it their all to impress the coaches and earn a roster spot or more playing time.
The Vikings' facility in Eagan, Minnesota saw some action on Saturday when drills got out of hand and a scuffle broke out between the offense and the defense after a play wasn't quite appreciated during drills.
Things got a little out of hand at Minnesota Vikings training camp on Saturday.
It may not have been a particularly hot or miserable day in Minnesota, but things got heated up on the practice field. According to a report from Ben Goessling, linebacker Brian Asamoah made a tackle that didn't go well.
Brian Asamoah decked Aaron Jones on a checkdown from J.J. McCarthy. Offered a hand to help Jones up, and then, after the offense confronted him, he threw a punch at Will Fries.

Not to downplay the toughness of Asamoah, but Will Fries might not be the right guy to throw a punch at. The six-foot-six, 305-pound guard has about an 80-pound weight advantage and six inches of height on Asamoah, making it a bit of a mismatch.
But it didn't end there. The offense and defense weren't quite done yet, as reported by Ben Goessling on X.
Then, after Tyler Batty hit Jones, another scrum ensued, with J.J. McCarthy in the middle of it. #Vikings are congregating on the field now to calm things down.

Linebacker Tyler Batty was another defender who got a lick on Aaron Jones that led to another scrum. This time, new starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy got involved. Things calmed down, and the team resumed work.
There have been multiple incidents like this across the league at training camp where drills have led to scrums. The Minnesota Vikings aren't immune to emotions running high, but it is nice that they didn't let it go too far.
Will Fries and J.J. McCarthy standing up for Aaron Jones after hits from Brian Asamoah and Tyler Batty shows that the offense is coming together and wants to support each other, even if it is just at practice.
The hit that Asamoah laid on Aaron Jones was caught on video and shared by The Purple Persuasion on X. There was a bit of extra oomph on that hit that would lead to the offense not taking kindly to the play.
The Minnesota Vikings have their first preseason game in a week and seem ready to take the field. Aggression has boiled over at training camp and hopefully they can bring that same kind of passion to the field when preseason and the regular season roll around.
