Brian Flores is currently in the middle of his fourth year with the Minnesota Vikings after getting hired as the team's defensive coordinator in 2023. After just about every one of Flores' seasons with the Vikings, fans have wondered if he will leave the organization to go and become a head coach for another NFL team.
Well, that hasn't happened yet, and it's probably not going to happen anytime soon after what the Minnesota defensive coordinator recently did.
On Tuesday, ESPN's Kris Rhim revealed that Flores' legal team "served subpoenas to 25 NFL teams and served more than 1,000 discovery requests in an attempt to obtain leaguewide hiring records and communications related to discrimination claims."
Basically, every NFL team except for the Vikings is now being included in Flores' ongoing discrimination lawsuit against the league that was originally filed all the way back in February 2022.
New lawsuit details could extend Brian Flores' tenure with the Minnesota Vikings
Given how almost every team is now included in Flores' lawsuit against the NFL, it seems safe to say that he probably won't be getting another opportunity to be a head coach anytime soon.
It's an unfortunate reality for the Vikings defensive coordinator, but it's hard to imagine that there's a team out there that would be okay with hiring him as their new head coach while he's also suing them at the exact same time.
The good news for Flores is that he's clearly loved by Minnesota fans and welcome to remain with the Vikings for as long as he likes, especially if he keeps putting together some of the best defenses in the league year after year.
Under Flores during the last two seasons, Minnesota's defense has ranked fourth in the NFL in points allowed per opposing offensive drive.
Minnesota still has plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball this year, so there's no reason to think they won't be just as good, if not better, than they were last season with Flores continuing to lead the way in 2026.
