After spending the last two seasons as the team's defensive coordinator, Brian Flores could be parting with the Minnesota Vikings in the near future.

Following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL regular season on Sunday, multiple teams around the league have already put in a request to meet with Flores about potentially becoming their next head coach.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday, both the New York Jets and Chicago Bears have requested to interview the Vikings defensive coordinator for their current head-coaching vacancies.

Will Brian Flores leave the Minnesota Vikings in 2025?

Given how poorly his first experience as an NFL head coach with the Miami Dolphins ended, Flores is likely going to be selective with the next head coaching job he takes.

With this in mind, the Jets and Bears probably aren't going to be able to entice him enough to leave his current role with Minnesota. Both New York and Chicago have been some of the most dysfunctional organizations in the league during the last few decades and Flores could end up setting up himself for failure by joining either team.

The New England Patriots haven't made an official request to interview Flores for their head-coaching vacancy yet, but he's still viewed as a top candidate for that job, and they would be a much better fit for him than the Jets or Bears.

Flores has been with Minnesota since the team hired him in 2023 to replace Ed Donatell as their defensive coordinator. During the two seasons since his arrival, the Vikings defense has gone from ranking 28th in the NFL in points allowed per game in 2022 to ranking fifth in the same category this season.

It's been quite the turnaround, and Flores's defense is a big reason why Minnesota was able to finish the 2024 regular season with an impressive 14-3 record.

Eventually, he will likely move on from the Vikings to take a head-coaching job, and that could potentially be something that even happens within the next few weeks. Until then, though, Flores will be busy helping Minnesota in its attempt to achieve success in this season's playoffs.
